Microneedling is a non-surgical, advanced facial treatment that is minimally invasive to both the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. It creates controlled micro-injuries (microchannels) through precise puncturing, stimulating the skin’s natural healing process. Through the punctures, microneedling trigger’s the body’s natural wound healing cascade in order to rejuvenate and remodel the skin with new collagen and elastin.
Just like feelings, sometimes our skin needs to break down in order to build itself back up again.

Mechanism of action:
Mechanically breaks down scar tissue
Activates cellular enzymes (MMPs)
Remodels the scar tissue up until phase 3 with proper deposition of collagen and elastin
Increases the blood flow and addresses the purple and red discolouration that are associated with acne scars
Addresses post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) by stimulating the skin’s natural growth factors
3-6 treatments are recommend for treating acne scarring. Please note that we may not be able to treat over active acne. A consultation is necessary before booking this treatment.

What we’re treating:
Enlarged pores due to:
- High sebum excretion, decreased elasticity around pores, increased hair follicle volume. There are also other contributing factors that play into why someone would have enlarged pores, such as their skincare regimen, hormones and recurring acne.
Mechanism of action:
Reorganization of old collagen fibres and laying down of new collagen, elastin, and capillaries leading to the effect of skin tightening
Thickening of Epidermis
Increase in levels of type I, III and VII, newly synthesized collagen and tropoelastin

Procedure Contraindications
• Have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)
• Have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)
• Have an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics
• Have a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction
• Are pregnant or nursing
• Are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)
• Have any other medical condition contraindicated by the treating physician

Pre-Microneedling at PEAU
Before booking a MicroPen EVO™ Microneedling treatment at PEAU’ésie, a complimentary phone consultation is required. If necessary, PEAU’ésie may request a follow-up video consultation to assess whether your skin meets the criteria for microneedling.
Guests typically book a series of 3 microneedling sessions to address their concerns, with up to 6 sessions for optimal results. Sessions are to be booked between 4 weeks apart. While standalone treatments can be effective for follow-ups, packages are recommended for deeper, more consistent outcomes. During their consultation, we'll pre-book their appointments to ensure they are scheduled and their routine stays consistent.
Guests are also welcome to inquire in-spa at PEAU’ésie during their appointments. However, if you’re an existing guest who hasn’t visited the spa in the past month, a phone consultation is still required. For any further questions, please email hello@peauesie.ca.

Before the treatment:
Avoid sun exposure and stop topical retinoid therapy 24 hours prior to procedure. You should allow at least 24 hours after autoimmune therapies before a treatment. You should wait six months following oral isotretinoin (such as Accutane) use before receiving treatment.

Post-Microneedling
After the treatment is complete, you will be provided with detailed post-treatment care instructions. It’s essential to follow the recommended at-home regimen from PEAU’ésie to ensure the best and safest results, adhering to the MicroPen EVO™ trained protocol. Using products that are not proven safe for microneedling after the procedure may lead to unexpected complications. Microchannels created during the procedure may remain open up to 24 hours, so the first 72 hours post-treatment are crucial.
Within the first 72 hours post-treatment you should avoid sweaty exercise and sun exposure. Exposure to these conditions could lead to: itching, burning, stinging, and tingling, scaling/dryness, redness, swelling, and tenderness/discomfort.
Post-treatment*:
First 24 hours: Avoid washing your face alongside any skin care, including SPF. Strictly use Skinfuse® Lift HG throughout the first 24 hours. (Provided for you in-spa, post-microneedling)
Avoid makeup
Day 2-5: Introduce a gentle moisturizer and mineral sunscreen; no exfoliation.
Day 5-7+: Slowly reintroduce actives (vitamin C, retinol) if skin is healed.
After 48 hours, regular makeup is okay if skin is healing well. Avoid heavy, oil-based products and use clean tools to prevent irritation.
*Please note that each guest will have their unique post-treatment protocol suggested at the time of their appointment and can look different from that of above.

Most guests experience minimal discomfort. Numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area before the session begins to ensure your comfort during the treatment. Areas that tend to be more tender include temples and forehead.

It’s best to wait until all your microneedling sessions are complete, as it's recommended not to space them out more than 4-5 weeks apart for optimal results. At the discretion of your aesthetician, you can then move on to your regular in-spa facial routine.

Guests will begin to see results after one week, with further improvements visible at one month. If you complete 3 or more sessions, you’ll notice the full results within 6 months. It's normal to experience some skin purging within the first two weeks, as the microneedling process stimulates the skin to renew and bring underlying impurities to the surface. Maintaining a consistent at-home regimen as recommended is key to preserving and enhancing these results.

All guests under the age of 18 must have a liability intake form signed by a parent or guardian, specifically for base and advanced facial treatments.

You can combine MicroPen EVO™ with other facial treatments at the discretion of your aesthetician, who will assess your skin and treatment goals to recommend the best combination for optimal results.

After completing your sessions, a follow-up treatment is generally recommended after 4 months. This timeline may vary and will be determined by your aesthetician based on your skin's needs and progress.

Like always, you'll be welcomed into PEAU’s relaxing environment with ambient lighting, a cozy bed, and a soothing atmosphere. Please note that due to the medical aesthetic nature of this treatment, we must adhere to a strict protocol. As a result, facial massage and any additional products, except those approved for use with the MicroPen EVO™, will not be included during this session.

Each MicroPen EVO™ microneedling session lasts 90 minutes, with 40 minutes dedicated to numbing. The actual treatment time, depending on the areas being addressed, typically ranges from 20 to 40 minutes. It’s a relatively quick procedure!

Usually but not guaranteed, microneedling PIE goes down within 48 hours. With MicroPen EVO™, the downtime is quite quick.

But, really, you’re more than welcome to bring a book, hang out on your phone or we can play your favourite music. Regardless, you’ll be laying down on a warm and cozy treatment bed, so you’re more than welcome to take a rest and nap.

Ideally, it's best to come to your appointment without makeup to ensure we're working with a clean base. However, regardless of makeup, we will perform a thorough double cleanse after numbing to ensure the skin is properly prepped for the treatment.

If you recently had injectables, we recommend a downtime waiting window a minimum of 2 weeks before booking any facial treatment.

In line with PEAU’ésie’s commitment to safety, we’ll be reaching out every couple of days during the first two weeks (with your consent) to ensure everything is going smoothly. Of course, you’re welcome to contact us at any time with questions, concerns, or even just to share how happy your skin is feeling!

We can only control what we can control. If you’re running late, please call or text us with your ETA, and we’ll do our best to accommodate. Usually with most of our services, we’re able to modify the facial if you’re running late, but due to the protocol of microneedling particularly, we won’t be able to proceed with the treatment if you are.
